The game is the brainchild of developers who previously brought us *Babbdi*, a unique Brutalist exploration experience. As *Straftat* captured the imaginations of players, another project emerged from the same talented team, titled *VHOLUME*.

While the initial enthusiasm for *Straftat* may have faded with friends moving on, the intrigue surrounding *VHOLUME* remains palpable. This first-person parkour game, developed by Léonard Lemaitre, Nathan Grange, and Niels Tiercelin, is set to transport players to a dystopian world governed by a tyrannical Ministry. Players assume the role of Robert, who embarks on a quest to restore his family’s ration tickets in the hauntingly desolate capital of Afro-Eurasia.

*VHOLUME* features a striking visual aesthetic that blends Brutalist architecture with a more modern design philosophy compared to its predecessors. With canted slabs, concrete turbines, and the unsettling allure of trypophobia-inducing windows, the environments are both enchanting and eerie. Some areas reflect a semblance of urban living, while others adhere to the abstract mash-up style introduced in *Straftat*, suggesting a rich tapestry of exploration that invites players to immerse themselves in its complex world.

Gameplay in *VHOLUME* is expected to be movement-centric, focusing on the agility of the character as players can jump, run, climb, and slide with fluidity. The developers promise a system where savvy parkour practitioners can utilize momentum, uncover shortcuts, and navigate the labyrinthine levels in a quest for speed and efficiency. This aligns the game with the high-pressure, skill-based pacing seen in titles like *Mirror’s Edge*, making it an attractive option for fans of fast-paced platformers.

Despite the absence of a release date or trailer, glimpses of *VHOLUME* are available through short animated snippets on its [Steam page](https://store.steampowered.com/app/4131730/VHOLUME/). As anticipation builds, those who appreciate the aesthetics and gameplay of *Lorn’s Lure* or the vibrant mechanics of *Mirror’s Edge* may find *VHOLUME* to be a perfect addition to their gaming repertoire.

As we await further developments, the potential of *VHOLUME* promises to captivate not just the nostalgia of *Straftat* enthusiasts but also those seeking a fresh take on parkour and exploration in a uniquely crafted environment.

Last year, myself, Brendy and Graham got fearfully excited about Straftat, a bountiful free 1v1 FPS with map designs calibrated to nostalgiafuck anybody who ever played Quake over an LAN or hoarded shareware CDs. Our fever burned all the hotter for knowing that Straftat is the work of them wot did Babbdi, the amazing Brutalist exploration game from 2022.

Brendy and Graham have now left the Treehouse, alas, so there is nobody here to get excited with me about VHOLUME, a first-person parkour game from one of the Straftat developers. I am sitting alone in my room, sorrowfully punching the air, tears pooling around my ankles and threatening to short-circuit the PC. Just as well it’s a single player experience, I guess.

[1

post-26076","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-uncategorized
["GET
