Title: Feodor Chin: The Voice Behind Zenyatta, Lee Sin, and More

If you’ve ever taken a moment to relax to the calming sounds of Zenyatta in Overwatch, evaded attacks from Lee Sin in League of Legends, or experienced the heartbreaking story of Lord Adachi in Ghost of Tsushima, then you’ve had a taste of the diverse vocal talents of Feodor Chin. A native of California and a graduate of UCLA, Chin has steadily become one of the most prolific and recognizable voices in contemporary gaming and animation.

With an extensive body of work that includes over 120 acting credits across video games, television, film, and animation, Feodor Chin’s career exemplifies the importance of hard work, versatility, and a deep commitment to storytelling. From modest beginnings to voicing some of gaming’s most memorable characters, Chin’s journey is as fascinating as the characters he brings to life.

From UCLA to Skywalker Ranch

Chin’s acting journey began in high school, where a classroom screening of Death of a Salesman featuring Dustin Hoffman sparked his passion for performance. While he pursued a degree in communication studies at UCLA—at the urging of his mother—he fully engaged with the university’s theatre program, taking part in plays and student films.

Soon after earning his degree, Chin secured his first significant voice acting role as the lead in New Legends, an action-adventure title for the original Xbox. “We recorded at Skywalker Ranch,” Chin recalls. “Just being able to go there was an incredible experience.” Although the game wasn’t a major hit, it set the stage for a long and successful career in voiceover.

The Voice of Tranquility: Zenyatta in Overwatch

One of Chin’s most cherished roles is Zenyatta, the omnic monk featured in Blizzard’s Overwatch and Overwatch 2. With his peaceful presence and philosophical quotes, Zenyatta quickly endeared himself to fans. For Chin, this role has been life-changing—both in his career and personal growth.

“Zenyatta has helped me become calmer and more centered,” Chin states. “Whenever I step into the booth, it’s refreshing to immerse myself in tranquility.”

The role has also allowed Chin to travel extensively, attending conventions in the Philippines, Australia, and BlizzCon in Anaheim. “Connecting with the fans has been transformative,” he notes. “They are what truly makes Overwatch exceptional.”

As Overwatch progressed, so did Zenyatta. In Overwatch 2, the character confronts new emotional hurdles, especially with the introduction of Ramattra, another omnic who holds a more militant view. “You’ll witness a less peaceable Zenyatta,” Chin shares. “It’s thrilling to explore a variety of emotions with him.”

Master of Martial Arts: Lee Sin and Lord Adachi

Chin’s vocal talents stretch well beyond calmness. As Lee Sin, the blind monk in League of Legends, he infuses the character with intensity and discipline, renowned for his agility and power. In Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut, he voices Lord Adachi, a noble samurai whose sorrowful destiny paves the way for the game’s emotional narrative.

Both roles highlight Chin’s skill in personifying vastly different characters—from serene spiritual leaders to fierce combatants—each with authenticity and depth.

Animated Adventures: Marvel, TMNT, and More

Chin’s abilities are not limited to video games. In Marvel’s What If…? season 2, he portrayed Xu Wenwu, the formidable father of Shang-Chi, in an alternate reality where he clashes with Cate Blanchett’s Hela. Although recorded remotely during the pandemic, Chin was excited to contribute to the Marvel universe. “Knowing I had a scene with Cate Blanchett was surreal,” he shares.

Additionally, he lent his voice to Master Splinter in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, bringing a nurturing quality to the iconic rat sensei. “Not that I’ve ever lived in a sewer with teenage turtles,” Chin jokes, “but I’ve certainly encountered lively kids before!”

Upcoming Projects and Dream Roles

Chin is continually broadening his range. He recently voiced Matsu in the anime The Fable (streaming on Hulu) and stars in Nickelodeon’s new animated series Wylde Pak. He also reprises his role in season four of Netflix’s acclaimed anthology Love, Death + Robots, which premieres on May 15.

As for dream roles? Chin has his sights on the world of The Last of Us. “I’m certain there’s a character I could embody in that universe,” he laughs. Whether in the series or a future game installment, it’s a part he hopes to manifest.

Advice for Aspiring Actors

For those aspiring to follow in his footsteps, Chin suggests practical guidance: “Remain open to diverse possibilities. You might want to pursue anime, but there are incredible opportunities in commercial work, audiobooks, and more. Stay receptive.”

He also highlights the significance of life experience. “Regardless of what you pursue, make sure…
