Ravensburger has revealed the newest entry in its Horrified board game lineup, Horrified: DUNGEONS & DRAGONS. This latest installment is a partnership with Wizards of the Coast and takes place in the Forgotten Realms, showcasing heroes and creatures from Dungeons & Dragons mythology. The game presents new mechanics focused on the classic 20-sided die, or d20, which is essential in D&D for determining the results of actions.
Players will set out on a cooperative quest to rescue Waterdeep from legendary monsters, collaborating to collect item tokens, safeguard citizens, and evade attacks. Players have the option to select from five classic D&D classes: Wizard, Rogue, Fighter, Cleric, or Bard, each possessing distinct abilities based on rolling a d20.
The game includes four monsters: the Beholder, Mimic, Displacer Beast, and Red Dragon, each requiring players to solve a specific puzzle before engaging in battle. The Red Dragon’s challenge entails locating the Orb of Dragonkind and tempting the dragon to its treasure. Crafted by Peter Lee, these puzzles are designed to captivate both RPG and board gaming enthusiasts.
Horrified: DUNGEONS & DRAGONS is now open for pre-order and is set to launch on August 1st, suitable for one to five players aged 10 and older, with a retail price of $29.99USD/$39.99CAD. The game will be featured in an episode of “Everything is Content” from Critical Role, airing on Twitch.
