Due to receiving significant criticism concerning the incorporation of generative AI, the creators of Jurassic World Evolution 3 have declared that they will cease its use.

It has been several weeks since Frontier Development unveiled the third installment in the Jurassic Evolution series, Jurassic World Evolution 3, during SGF 2025. Since that time, enthusiasts have closely monitored the announcement trailer and observed that in-game scientist portraits were generated using generative AI. The trailer, which was showcased at SGF 2025, can be viewed below.

Earlier in June, Steam introduced a requirement for developers to reveal whether their titles released on Steam utilize generative AI, and the newest Jurassic World Evolution indeed acknowledged the use of the technology. Steam indicates, “The survey now includes a new AI disclosure section, where you’ll need to describe how you are using AI in the development and execution of your game,” and Frontier Development’s Jurassic World Evolution 3 has indicated that it fits within the description. As of this posting, “Artificial Intelligence” continues to be listed under the “popular user-defined tags” for the title.

A particularly harsh comment from a fan on Steam Forums critiques the decision as “pathetic” and suggests that the development team exhibits a “lack of self awareness and appallingly low iq” in the message. Fans have rallied around the post to criticize the decision made by the developers, with some describing Frontier Developments’ use of the portraits as “lazy.” Other fans have pointed out that Jurassic World Evolution 2 employed a similar approach, but the Steam page for the 2021 release does not mention AI being used in its development. It’s conceivable that developers are not obligated to disclose the use of AI in software that has already been released on the platform (it is not outlined in the disclosure guidelines on Steam).

Frontier Developments has addressed the post regarding Jurassic World Evolution 3, stating, “Thanks for your feedback on this topic. We have opted to remove the use of generative AI for scientist portraits within Jurassic World Evolution 3.” Thus, although fans were initially indignant about the developer’s choice, they have since announced that the generated assets will be eliminated.
