During today’s Minecraft LIVE event, Mojang Studios revealed a lineup of upcoming Minecraft content set for this year, including The Copper Age, Mounts of Mayhem, and Marketplace DLCs.
As Minecraft flourishes in its 16th year, Minecraft LIVE made its return this month to announce a wealth of new content coming throughout the year. As gamers dive back into the cherished sandbox experience, each forthcoming content update introduces fresh tools, weapons, blocks, and more, featuring updates like The Copper Age and Mounts of Mayhem, alongside marketplace expansions such as Friendly Fishing and the Dragon Ball Z x Minecraft partnership.
Debuting in May 2009, Minecraft is a survival sandbox game in which players embark on a journey in a realm of limitless creativity. Whether playing solo or with friends, the game provides two distinct modes: Survival Mode, where players traverse lands to battle monsters and collect resources to face the Ender Dragon, and Creative Mode, where players can construct anything they envision with infinite supplies.
Opening Minecraft LIVE, the initial significant update disclosed is The Copper Age. Launching on September 30, this update greatly enhances Copper’s functionality, enabling players to craft it into tools, weapons, armor, lighting resources, and more. Alongside the expanded uses for Copper, new items will be introduced, and previously released ones will receive updates. The features included in the upcoming release are:
– Copper Golem – Summoned with copper and carved pumpkins, the Copper Golem aids in organizing the player’s base by retrieving items in the Copper Chests and sorting them by type into various chests around the area.
– Copper Chest – Created alongside the Copper Golem, players can place items into the Copper Chest for the Copper Golem to sort them into standard chests.
– Copper Golem Statue – Once fully oxidized, the Copper Golem turns into a statue, but can be revived by scraping the patina with an axe.
– Copper Golem: Poses – As the Copper Golem becomes a statue, it strikes four distinct poses that can be altered through interaction.
– Copper Golem Statue: Redstone – When paired with redstone, the Copper Golem Statue can send out signals according to the poses.
– Copper tools and weapons – With durability between stone and iron, Copper can be crafted into tools, weapons, and armor without oxidizing.
– Copper armor – Stronger than leather but slightly less than iron, Copper can be made into armor for players and horses, including a copper helmet, copper chestplate, copper leggings, copper boots, and complete copper horse armor.
– Shelf – Players can showcase up to three items on shelves to interchange with their inventory. Additionally, redstone-powered shelves can swap all three items at once in the player’s hotbar. Finally, players can rotate in more items when powered shelves are placed side by side.
– Oxidizing lighting rods – Lighting rods will now oxidize, changing from orange to bright green as time passes.
– Copper lanterns, torches, chains, and bars – Players can create copper lanterns and torches to illuminate their bases and mines, as well as copper chains and bars to enhance their builds.
– New dye art – The dye art icons have been redesigned, featuring varied shapes for each dye to improve accessibility and make identification easier.
– Iron Golem and Copper Golem interaction – The Iron Golem will present a flower to the Copper Golem for it to place upon its own head.
After announcing The Copper Age, Mojang Studios hinted at the features coming in Minecraft’s fourth drop, Mounts of Mayhem. Launching during Holiday 2025, the update brings a new weapon for players and mobs to wield, as well as mounts to facilitate underwater exploration. Alongside the new mounts, the Zombie Horse will be introduced into Survival Mode after being exclusive to Creative Mode for years. The teased features during Minecraft LIVE include:
– Spear – A new weapon for both hand-to-hand and mounted combat. The spear’s damage is determined by the speed of the player using it.
– Nautilus – A new mount for players to explore underwater, providing a speed boost while maintaining the player’s air supply. It can be tamed using a pufferfish.
– Zombie Nautilus – Although neutral, the trident-bearing Drowned frequently rides the Zombie Nautilus, prepared to unleash chaos.
– Nautilus armor – Found in chests, Nautilus can be equipped with copper, iron, gold, diamond, and netherite armor.
– Zombie Horse – Making its debut in Survival Mode, Zombie Horses are a passive mob that spawns at night, often ridden by spear-carrying zombies.
In partnership with Conservation International, Mojang Studios introduces Friendly Fishing add-on.
