“Iron Bramble: Struggling with Grappling Hook Platforming in a Cyber-Gothic Megastructure World”
If it ain’t broke, why fix it? That seems to be the thought process behind Iron Bramble, the next game from the devs behind Rusted Moss. Like its predecessor, Iron Bramble is a pixel art metroidvania, one where you have a grappling hook that lets you swing about the place at rapid pace, only this time the setting is a “cyber-gothic megastructure” and you play a story-eating demon (?) woman in a world where humanity’s flesh bodies have all died out and their souls now reside in metal, robotic husks.

Clarifying the Misidentification of a Character in the Street Fighter Film: The Argument Against Cammy
**Cammy White: An Inaccurate Representation in the New Street Fighter Film**
The latest *Street Fighter* adaptation has drawn criticism from fans, especially concerning the depiction of the much-loved character, Cammy White. Recognized for her intricate backstory and development from villainy to heroics, the film’s interpretation of her has ignited extensive debate within the fanbase.
**Cammy’s Heritage in the Street Fighter Franchise**
Since her debut in *Super Street Fighter II*, Cammy has been an important figure in the *Street Fighter* series. Introduced as a mind-controlled assassin working for the main villain, M. Bison, her storyline is one of redemption and personal growth. Her path embodies themes of independence and resistance, making her a fan favorite.
In the movie, however, Cammy is portrayed as a wicked accomplice to Bison, reflecting her origins as one of his “Dolls.” While this element stays true to her background, the characterization strays widely. The more significant issue is her changed demeanor, which contrasts sharply with the stoic and disciplined fighter that fans are familiar with.
**A Significant Shift in Character Portrayal**
Played by Mel Jarnson, Cammy’s portrayal in the film showcases traits akin to those of characters like Harley Quinn, being shown as flirtatious and erratic. Fans have voiced their dissatisfaction with this interpretation, noting that it clashes with Cammy’s established character. The film illustrates her with abrupt mood shifts and an overly seductive attitude—attributes that conflict with her usual composed and determined spirit.
Critics have remarked that this new depiction bears resemblance to Juri Han, a character introduced later, infamous for her sadistic and chaotic tendencies. Many speculate that the filmmakers attempted to infuse elements of Juri into the character but were hindered by the *Street Fighter* timeline, resulting in a confused blend rather than an accurate portrayal of Cammy.
**Community Reactions to the Character Transformation**
Responses from the *Street Fighter* fanbase reveal a collective disappointment over the film’s choice to drastically alter Cammy’s character. Viewer comments reflect the belief that this representation strays significantly from her video game origins and the serious ambiance of the original narrative.
One fan shared their bewilderment regarding the character’s trajectory, questioning whether the film aimed to reference Juri’s character. Another fan highlighted that the playful and flirtatious traits presented in the film feel dissonant with Cammy’s established identity as a focused fighter on a serious mission.
**The Prospects for Cammy in Street Fighter**
Though the film does not explore Cammy’s mind control by Bison in depth—a vital aspect of her backstory—there are hopes for future developments. Jarnson mentioned in interviews that the character might eventually escape this condition, which could permit a more genuine representation of Cammy in sequels. Nevertheless, the current depiction continues to disappoint fans who were hoping for a more accurate adaptation.
In summary, the treatment of Cammy White in the new *Street Fighter* film has become a contentious issue among fans. While the film’s overall tone is light and unconventional, the radical transformation of a cherished character has left many yearning for a return to the original’s richness and intricacy. Whether future films will rectify this direction remains uncertain, but for now, the film’s portrayal of Cammy is seen as one of its most divisive choices.
