**Gunzilla Games: Financial Troubles and Worker Allegations**
Gunzilla Games, the studio behind the NFT-infused battle royale game *Off The Grid*, is currently facing significant financial turmoil. Reports suggest that the company owes over $100,000 to a marketing agency and has been hit with allegations from employees regarding delayed salaries. The situation has escalated to the point where Gunzilla has encountered two legal actions centered around unpaid debts, prompting claims for the studio’s enforced liquidation in the UK.
In a recent statement, CEO Vlad Korolev responded to concerns regarding unpaid wages, asserting that salaries for full-time employees have never been delayed by more than a week. However, he acknowledged that some payments might be structured to accommodate the company’s cash flow needs. This remark came amidst a growing wave of complaints from former staff members and contractors who state that they have not received their payments as scheduled.
According to a report by *PC Gamer*, Gunzilla’s workforce heavily relies on contractors, who reportedly constitute more than half of the team at the studio’s location in Ukraine. Anonymous sources have indicated that many of these contractors—including individuals in senior roles—have not been compensated since 2025, raising serious concerns about the studio’s financial practices. Notable industry professionals, such as technical animator Akhil Chinnabathini and lighting artist Marko Dijan, have publicly shared their struggles with delayed payments, adding weight to the accusations against Gunzilla.
This year, Gunzilla has been subject to two winding-up petitions in the UK. These petitions allow companies or individuals owed £750 or more to prove a debtor’s inability to pay their debts, which may ultimately lead to the company’s liquidation. One petition was filed by The Vertex Guild, a 3D art production and photogrammetry studio, while the other came from HM Revenue and Customs, backed by *PC Gamer*’s publisher Future PLC. While the petition from The Vertex Guild remains active, the latter has been retracted following Gunzilla’s payment of the owed amount.
The financial woes of Gunzilla extend beyond individual salaries, as reported by sources, which indicate that an unnamed marketing company, contracted by the studio in 2024, is still awaiting payment exceeding $100,000 for their services.
Despite the severity of these allegations and legal actions, there has been no official comment from Gunzilla regarding the ongoing issues.
As the situation continues to unfold, the gaming community watches closely, evaluating the potential impacts on Gunzilla’s operations and its ability to deliver on upcoming projects.
