Sektori: Enestående Arcade Shooter fra Sidste År Nu Tilgængelig på Switch 2

Sektori, one of the standout games from last year – closely resembling the twin-stick shooter Geometry Wars to the point they could be mistaken for one another – has finally landed on Nintendo Switch 2.

The creator of the game, Kimmo Lahtinen – a seasoned developer with 13 years at Returnal and the studio Housemarque – released a trailer showcasing Sektori on Switch 2, hinting that the game might lead to moments of sheer frustration. However, dear reader, it really won’t. In fact, Chris had such high praise for the game last year that he urged you to, “Drop everything and play Sektori.” And since he’s our editor-in-chief now, I suppose I must align with his views?

I jest. I’ve tried Sektori myself and found it equally captivating. At first glance, it’s very much akin to Geometry Wars; it’s an arcade twin-stick shooter where you navigate a small ship in confined areas while demolishing waves of vibrant, approaching, simple-shaped foes. And the thrilling sense of chaos that made Geometry Wars so enjoyable, to both play and observe? Sektori captures that instantly.

Yet, beneath its exterior lie fresh concepts. There’s an enhancement system enabling you to collect and use currency at your discretion, depending on the upgrades you desire – will you save or will you spend? The playing fields also occasionally shift into new forms, as if viewed through a kaleidoscope. Additionally, there are bosses, and this is merely in one of the game’s modes. There’s much more to explore.

Sektori debuted last November on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S/X, right during the overwhelming release period, which may explain why it flew under your radar. Its launch on Switch 2 presents a fantastic opportunity to revisit it.
