Hasbro Asserts Sci-Fi RPG Subcategory Lacks High-Caliber Games Lately, Identifies Potential in Exodus to Rejuvenate the Genre

The leader of toy powerhouse Hasbro, Chris Cocks, has expressed his opinion that the science fiction role-playing game sector has been missing a quality title for a considerable duration. Hasbro intends to rectify this situation with their forthcoming game, Exodus, created by Archetype Entertainment. Archetype Entertainment is a studio that operates under Wizards of the Coast, which is a subsidiary of Hasbro, thus connecting Cocks to the promotion of this new venture. The studio was established by ex-BioWare talents, featuring prominent individuals such as James Ohlen and Drew Karpyshyn, who played crucial roles in the creation of the Mass Effect franchise.

Chris Cocks, referencing the impact of Mass Effect, has high expectations for Exodus, perceiving it as a daring yet essential move to address the gap caused by the scarcity of recent high-quality sci-fi RPGs. The game is a component of Hasbro’s strategic foray into the video game market, with significant investments aimed at grabbing the interest of genre enthusiasts.

Exodus is anticipated to launch in early 2027, with marketing materials gradually released to generate excitement. The game promises a similar yet unique experience compared to Mass Effect, incorporating features like time dilation to enhance its originality. In addition to Exodus, Owlcat Games is working on The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, another title in the same genre, paving the way for an exhilarating time for sci-fi RPG fans seeking the next major adventure in the field.
