Happy release day! I’ve been playing Digimon UP since this morning and found the Hologram Device to be one of the more confusing mechanics in the game. After sinking a few hours into progression, I’ve figured out everything you need to know about using the Digimon UP Hologram Device, from how it works, the filters, and levelling it up.

Auto Roll Settings (Hologram Device Settings)
After completing parts of the tutorial, you’ll unlock the Hologram Device Settings (right button) and the Auto Roll function (left button).
The Hologram Device Settings allow you to customise what equipment you want to draw. For example, if you want to increase your HP, you’d leave this category ticked and untick those you already have covered in other equipment.
Note: I suggest leaving all categories ticked to help you quickly find new and powerful equipment during the early stages. (Though the Pre-Reg Patamon Pyjamas are probably the best clothing you’ll find for a while.)
The main things you’re looking for when pulling are Plugins, Masks, and Hair. Again, this is due to the Patamon Pyjama set being quite strong for the initial stages and SSR rarity.
Custom Settings
As for customising settings to make the Auto Roll and Auto Sell more efficient, press the ITEM RANK drop-down button from the Hologram Device Settings menu, and select the rarest Item Rank you’ve unlocked. After this, press Apply. Any items that don’t qualify for this grade will be auto-sold when the device is set to auto-roll.
When you roll an eligible item, the device will stop auto-rolling until you decide whether to sell or keep your current loadout. You may only have one equipment slot filled at a time, with no backpack/storage/reserves for additional items.
Levelling Up The Hologram Device
Saving the best until last, this is one of the most important things to know about your Hologram Device.
Press the tag above the device with its level to open up the upgrade menu. By upgrading your Hologram Device using Bits, you have a higher chance of retrieving rarer Items, and can pull more items per activation.
To level up, you need to power up the gear using Bits until all bars at the bottom of the pop-up screen are filled. For example, the first level requires 2x 6,000 Bits investments to level up. After this, there is a short real-world countdown until the levelling is finalised and you have an upgraded Hologram Device. Each level will also tell you statistics on your odds of pulling graded items.
Selling Equipment
For each Item you sell, you and your Digimon earn some EXP. This gradually helps increase your Trainer Level and your Digimon Training Level, which in turn increases your overall combat power.
Because of this, it’s always worth leaving auto-roll on so that you’re not outmatched during later stages while still manually trying to find stronger items.
