Bethesda Confirms Preproduction of Fallout 5 and Development of The Elder Scrolls 6, with Remasters of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas in Progress

Following Microsoft’s mass layoffs, Bethesda has stepped up its communication regarding upcoming projects. In a recent blog post, they announced that both Fallout 5 and The Elder Scrolls 6 are in development, with Fallout 5 currently in preproduction. These titles are being created using the Creation Engine 3, a technology platform developed since the launch of Starfield, enabling the company to work on multiple projects with enhanced tools and systems.

The blog post highlighted the focus on The Elder Scrolls 6, with most of Bethesda’s development team dedicated to this highly anticipated title. Additionally, remasters of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas have been confirmed, although no specific release dates are available yet.

Bethesda’s communication also addressed content for Fallout 76, which is set to receive a significant expansion titled Raven Rock next year, providing a prequel story to Fallout 3. In collaboration with Obsidian, the developers of New Vegas, Bethesda is also working on a new Fallout project.

On the Elder Scrolls front, ZeniMax Online Studios will collaborate closely with Bethesda Game Studios to enhance the Elder Scrolls franchise, while continuing to produce new content for The Elder Scrolls Online. Furthermore, Starfield will be updated with new stories, gameplay improvements, and additional content focused on the Starborn.

This announcement marks a critical moment for Bethesda as they navigate through organizational changes while simultaneously working on beloved franchises.
