Our Gaming Adventures: The Idle Switch 2 Stares Back Like the Green Goblin Mask

Our Gaming Adventures: The Idle Switch 2 Stares Back Like the Green Goblin Mask

## 15th August

Hello and welcome back to our usual segment where we discuss the games we’ve been diving into. This week, we all find ourselves melting into puddles at our computers, but Dom also dedicates time to the new Fire Emblem; Connor gets excited about the fresh fighting game on the scene, Marvel Tōkon; Chris can’t stop pondering the Star Wars XCOM-like title he tried; and Bertie arranges a Eurogamer community hike.

What have you been playing this week?

Here’s another thought: do you recall what you were playing last week? You don’t need to! [The What We’ve Been Playing archive](https://www.eurogamer.net/topics/what-weve-been-playing) has it all sorted.

## Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, Switch 2

As you can likely infer from [my preview](https://www.eurogamer.net/fire-emblem-fortunes-weave-preview), I’ve been consumed by Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave this week. It’s excellent. Extremely excellent. My [Switch 2](https://www.eurogamer.net/platforms/switch-2) stares at me from my desk like the Green Goblin mask during working hours. When I close my eyes, I envision all the little figures from my anime chess game poised on their grids for my master plan. At night, I can hear phantom echoes of level-up chimes and critical hit crashes. The game isn’t even released yet. This is going to be massive. Take heed, there’s still time. It’s too late for me.

## Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, PS5

![Marvel Tōkon](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJj4fkyN_Co)

I can’t provide many specifics about the highlight of my Tōkon journey this week ([stay tuned on the site for more](https://www.eurogamer.net/marvel-tokon-fighting-souls-review)), but I’ve had a fantastic time with Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls. Once I distanced myself from PC players and their technical glitches, and joined the PS5 crowd, I’ve been enjoying every moment.

Initially, I was fully committed to Ghost Rider, but I’ve now transitioned to Star Lord as my main character. Honestly, I think I’ll switch again. It’s so straightforward to get familiar with characters, thanks to the auto combos, that learning the roster isn’t a task at all. In fact, it’s quite enjoyable. Perhaps Captain America will be my next choice.

## Star Wars: Zero Company, PC

I’ve played only as much as I was permitted in the recent preview, but it’s been on my mind constantly since then. Zero Company’s impressive – I worry it may fall into that unfortunate revenue void where turn-based tactics games often get stuck these days, but hopefully that concern is misplaced because it truly deserves to succeed.

One detail I didn’t delve into much [in my preview](https://www.eurogamer.net/star-wars-zero-company-preview-xcom) that I appreciate is a character named Jae, whom you encounter along the way and can enlist as an operative—it comes with an amazing passive ability. Whenever you reduce an enemy to very low health – say under 6HP out of 100 – she performs an automatic execution shot that finishes them off. I can foresee the tactic of stacking these little boosts of damage – assists, finishers, etc. – becoming vital on tougher levels.

But more importantly, when she does this, I think it’s just cool. I’ve been eager to launch this again ever since it was cruelly yanked from my hard drive after the preview ended, partly because I want to activate that effect a few more times.

## Big Walk, PC

![I think this is all of us! Thank you everyone for playing.](https://www.eurogamer.net/image-credit-house-house)

This is thrilling! It’s the first week I’m writing an entry here that might resonate in the comments. Do you know why? You won’t believe it. It’s because we played a game collaboratively! Yes, that’s correct: we finally did what we probably should have arranged many times before and organized a Eurogamer reader gaming night, of sorts. The game in question: Big Walk.

There was a wider goal than merely socializing: I aimed to write a piece about our adventure for a theme week we’re planning to surprise you with soon – spoiler:
