In a recent turn of events, Nightdive Studios has officially confirmed the forthcoming Thief campaign, “The Tarnished Mirror,” which was unintentionally unveiled through a Steam achievements leak. A short teaser shared on YouTube validated the campaign’s title and suggested that further details would be revealed on November 2. The teaser playfully alludes to the campaign’s leak while presenting fresh artwork of Garrett by artist Alexandru “Dominus” Negoita. The well-known gaming voice line “Huh, not so secret anymore,” allegedly from earlier games, wraps up the announcement, teasing the studio’s intentions without disclosing too much information.
The leak was sourced from Exophase, a platform recognized for monitoring gaming achievements, which listed achievements for various unannounced games, incorporating the Thief Remastered and “The Tarnished Mirror” expansion. This unintentional disclosure ignited excitement among fans, notwithstanding Exophase’s removal of the most revealing information from their listing.
Thief: The Dark Project Remastered, one of the projects from Nightdive Studios, is highly awaited, particularly with the inclusion of a new, official expansion nearly thirty years after the original game. It adds to a wave of unexpected expansions for cherished older titles, including others like The Witcher 3 and Quake.
Nightdive Studios’ commitment to remastering and enhancing classic titles, as demonstrated by their efforts on System Shock, raises expectations for the new Thief content. The upcoming campaign is set to enrich the already extensive realm of fan-created missions and expansions while showcasing Nightdive’s expertise beyond mere remastering.
Players can look forward to the arrival of Thief Remastered in the winter, with aspirations for an early launch. “The Tarnished Mirror” expansion signifies a major milestone for the Thief community, reigniting interest and involvement with this legendary immersive stealth franchise.
