DrDisrespect Mimics Marathon Sponsorship, Leading Bungie to Clarify He Is Not an Official Sponsor

Bungie recently provided clarification concerning well-known streamer Herschel “DrDisrespect” Beahm, confirming that he is not receiving compensation for promoting its forthcoming game, *Marathon*. This announcement follows Beahm’s insinuation of having a sponsorship in a lighthearted message made ahead of a server slam event slated for February 26.

On February 24, Beahm utilized X (previously Twitter) to unveil a teaser for his impending content related to *Marathon*, stating, “Tomorrow is going to be CINEMA DROPS ON #marathonpartner.” The post featured an image of his likeness reimagined as a *Marathon* character, triggering speculation among his followers regarding the authenticity of his sponsorship claims.

Nevertheless, Bungie’s official game account swiftly replied to clarify that DrDisrespect was not linked with *Marathon*. Following this clarification, members of the gaming community reacted by adding a community note to Beahm’s tweet to rectify the misinformation.

Afterward, Beahm appeared to take the matter in stride, referencing the increasing complexities of the gaming industry in 2026, proposing that it has turned more political and automated. He also expressed amusement over the fact that companies, due to his contentious reputation, feel the need to formally disassociate from him. This behavior is consistent for Beahm, who recently staged a similar scenario regarding an invitation to another game’s preview event, only for the developers to deny any connection to him.

In a broader reflection, Beahm emphasized the evolving nature of content creation and community involvement in the digital era, observing that although platforms may change, genuine communities founded on identity and consistency continue to be meaningful.
