Cities: Skylines Announces New Race Day Expansion Release Next Week in Celebration of 11th Anniversary

**Celebrating 11 Years of Cities: Skylines: New Expansion and Creator Packs Announced**

This year marks the 11th anniversary of the beloved city-building simulation series, Cities: Skylines. To celebrate this milestone, publishers Paradox Interactive have unveiled an exciting array of updates for both the original game and its sequel, Cities: Skylines 2.

**New Expansion: Race Day**

One of the most notable announcements is the upcoming expansion for the original Cities: Skylines, titled *Race Day*, set to launch on March 10th. Developed by Tantalus Media, known for their work on *Age of Empires II*, this expansion introduces the ability to host various events, including parades, motor races, cycling events, and marathons, all within your city.

The expansion allows players to construct “event roads” that can be closed off for events while still functioning as regular roads at other times. Players can create intricate racing circuits by linking smooth motor racing tarmac to these event roads. Additionally, *Race Day* brings new buildings such as pit garages, spectator stands, and start/finish lines, enhancing the overall event experience.

Players will have access to tools that enable them to select event types and tiers, set ticket prices, and manage a full lineup of city events. This opens up a plethora of possibilities, such as scheduling a week of motor races followed by foot races on the same track, introducing strategic planning to the gameplay. Furthermore, players might choose to organize weekly parades, effectively managing their city’s traffic.

**Creator Packs for Both Games**

In addition to the *Race Day* expansion, Paradox is rolling out multiple creator packs for both Cities: Skylines and its sequel. For the original game, two new content packs will be available: *Iconic Brutalism*, which focuses on a unique architectural style, and *Renewed History*, which aims to enrich the historical elements of city-building. These packs will be released alongside a free patch that introduces roadside fences and a new employment information screen.

For Cities: Skylines 2, players can look forward to the *Office Evolution* and *City Stations* creator packs, enhancing the urban development experience with new office buildings and transportation hubs. A patch accompanying these packs will introduce the Iceflake Arena, a signature building, and enhance toggle zoning features to streamline gameplay. Additionally, two new radio stations are set to be added, further enriching the audio experience.

**Addressing Challenges and Community Feedback**

The announcement comes at a time when Cities: Skylines 2 has faced scrutiny for its performance issues, leading to mixed reactions from the gaming community. Paradox has acknowledged these challenges and is actively working to address player feedback to improve the game experience.

As the Cities: Skylines series continues to evolve, the combination of new expansions, creator packs, and community engagement promises to keep players invested and excited for the future of city-building simulation. With the *Race Day* expansion and new content on the horizon, there has never been a better time to jump into the Cities: Skylines experience.
