A new indie dark fantasy project is in the making. The indie developer and publisher, Rare Soup, has just dropped a new gameplay demo for the dark fantasy title Grim Axiom via Steam. As of now, the game is slated to come to PC via Steam. The release date, however, is yet to be announced.
The new demo of the dark fantasy title Grim Axiom gives a first look at what its underground nightmare has to offer
Action, adventure, and horror elements all make up this soulslike game. From the looks of it, there seems to be exploration, tense combat, and slow progression through a hostile world. The labyrinth is full of winding halls, hidden chambers, and side paths.
Visually, the game uses an isometric perspective. Yeah, like classic dungeon crawlers such as Diablo. That viewpoint, combined with narrow corridors, open chambers, and hidden areas are tucked throughout the map design.
The gameplay trailer shows dark locations ranging from crumbling dungeon rooms to blood-soaked hallways. You’ll see the player character switching between melee strikes and magical abilities while fighting grotesque enemies. It also shows environmental hazards with traps like spikes emerging from the floor.

What’s the premise?
In the game, the main character wakes up far below the surface with no memory of their former life. They get surrounded by the ruins of an ancient civilization and a sprawling labyrinth full of mutated and undead creatures.
The environment itself becomes part of the struggle. Light is scarce, corridors twist into confusing pathways, and the only way forward is deeper into the underground complex. Even there, mysterious ancient machines continue operating long after whatever built them has disappeared.
The title looks promising, so we’ll probably have to wait and see how it performs once it’s out. In the meantime, you can read our other scoop on why words don’t come easy! It’s WordGlyph on mobile.
