Wanderstop's Cozy Tea Shop Quest Creator Shuts Down Due to Funding Difficulties

Developer Ivy Road, recognized for their title Wanderstop, has announced its closure today. The studio characterized the shutdown as “bittersweet,” with plans to cease operations on March 31. The team conveyed appreciation for the chance to develop Wanderstop, emphasizing the partnership between notable creators Davey Wrenden, Karla Zimonja, and composer C418. Wanderstop, celebrated for its charming tea shop escapade, was Ivy Road’s debut and sole game.

The shutdown comes after layoffs were implemented in January following failed attempts to secure funding for a new project, Engine Angel. Despite efforts to find a publishing partner, Ivy Road struggled to clinch a deal, citing the current difficulties in securing financing for games. Animator Liz Caingcoy has shared glimpses of Engine Angel’s work online.

Wanderstop will remain on sale, with a potential surprise collaboration with Annapurna Interactive aimed at introducing the game to new audiences. Ivy Road expressed pride in their creation and urged others to chase their artistic passions in art, music, writing, or video game development.
