Microsoft has revealed a reduction in pricing for its Xbox Game Pass offerings, with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate decreasing from $29.99 to $22.99 per month and PC Game Pass dropping from $16.49 to $13.99 per month. In the UK, the cost for Game Pass Ultimate has been lowered from £22.99 to £16.99, and PC Game Pass has seen a reduction from £13.49 to £10.99, effective immediately.
Due to these price adjustments, Microsoft will not be including new Call of Duty titles as day-one releases in either subscription service. Instead, these games will be added roughly a year later during the subsequent holiday season. Current Call of Duty games in Game Pass will remain unchanged.
As mentioned in Xbox Wire, Microsoft clarified that this pricing adjustment is a reaction to player feedback from various areas, tastes, and preferences. The company is dedicated to hearing and responding to customer demands.
This decision comes after a price hike six months ago, which also modified Microsoft Rewards, decreasing its value for subscribers who no longer received credits for being part of Game Pass. Under Xbox’s new CEO, Asha Sharma, the emphasis has shifted toward delivering a better value proposition for gamers, as she finds the existing subscription model has become overly expensive.
Sharma, who took over from Phil Spencer, stressed the need to evolve Game Pass into a more adaptable system in her efforts since assuming the role in February. She has also discontinued the “This is an Xbox” campaign and is now concentrating on the upcoming generation of Xbox hardware, referred to as Project Helix, which is expected to excel in performance, although its release specifics remain undisclosed.
