Sequel Revealed for Cooperative Shooter Aliens: Fireteam Elite, Launch Approaching

It’s confirmed: Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is set to launch later this year.

Information about an unannounced Aliens Fireteam Elite sequel surfaced as early as July 2024, when a proposal deck detailing “a new chapter in the Aliens: Fireteam Elite” series emerged online. At that stage, it was projected to release by Q3 2025.

Now, though, it has all been officially verified, and the sequel broadens the player count from three to four, alongside “more intricate strategies and improved coordination with your team, [featuring] a range of new classes and weaponry, each presenting distinct playstyles and tactical options on the battlefield”.

Additional features include a revamped horde mode, a fresh Specialist endgame class for fully tailored Marines, five distinct classes, and “more lethal threats”. Players will also have the ability to collaborate across platforms with in-game voice communication.

“Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 immerses up to four players in the roles of Colonial Marines sent to the most perilous areas of the Aliens universe,” the description states. “This isn’t a rescue operation – it’s a battle for survival.”

“Xenomorphs lurk in the hallways, ambush from the darkness, and swarm in overwhelming quantities. Every corner might be your last. With enhanced squad dynamics, cleverer foes, and a fully customizable Specialist class, AFE2 offers the ultimate co-op Aliens experience.”

Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 will be available on PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, as well as on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in summer 2026 (or Q3, if you’re in Australia). Assuming the timelines don’t slip, that indicates we’ll see it sometime between June and September this year.

“Aliens: Fireteam Elite is precisely what it promises. Packed with firearms, gadgets, and abundant alien goo, it’s a fast-paced cooperative fight against some of sci-fi’s most legendary monsters in a fresh storyline that takes us beyond the original trilogy,” I noted when I reviewed Aliens: Fireteam Elite back in 2021.

“No, it isn’t the most advanced shooter, and no, its shortened gameplay duration is unlikely to keep you occupied for more than a couple of evenings, but it’s an unapologetically enjoyable adventure that should also fulfill your Ripley power fantasies.”
