**Control Resonant: Advancing Combat and Game Length**
Remedy Entertainment has officially disclosed the projected playtime for their forthcoming title, Control Resonant, along with details about its refined combat mechanics. In a conversation with TechRadar, lead gameplay designer Sergey Mohov indicated that finishing the main narrative will require around 30 hours. However, those pursuing 100% completion should prepare to spend nearly 50 hours.
**Gameplay Improvements and Influences**
Control Resonant is firmly grounded in the principles of its predecessor, aiming to preserve its distinctive ambiance while incorporating new features. Mohov explained that the creative team concentrated on embodying the essence of a Control game while transitioning to a more melee-focused combat approach. Mohov stated, “We aspired to create a sequel that resonates spiritually with the original while presenting an aggressive, melee-centric combat framework.”
The development of the game’s combat system takes cues from a variety of influences. Mohov, who appreciates titles such as DMC 2, DMC 3, and creations from PlatinumGames, emphasized that although there are inspirations, Control Resonant intricately intertwines these aspects. The objective was to craft an experience that feels both recognizable and unique, drawing on insights from other games without mirroring them directly.
**Hands-On Feedback**
Earlier, hands-on impressions of Control Resonant have highlighted its dynamic style. Gamers can anticipate fluid, Devil May Cry-style encounters featuring dashes, double-jumps, and aerial combos. This combat approach encourages players to establish their own pace as they explore the game.
**Release Details**
Control Resonant’s eagerly awaited launch date was revealed during a Sony State of Play presentation in June. The game is scheduled for release on September 24th for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via both Steam and the Epic Games Store, offering players an engaging continuation of the Control storyline.
